An investment of €8 million will allow AVINENT it to expand its facilities by 7,000 m²
An additional seven thousand square metres. Over the next four years. With a total investment of close to eight million euros. This is AVINENT Science & Technology’s firm commitment to expanding its facilities and the reason is to guarantee the future capacity for business growth, with a solid growth base focused on innovation in products, processes and services, both in the medical sector and for industry. In the words of AVINENT’s CEO, Albert Giralt, the investment aims to “close the consolidation phase” and “open a stage of real growth”.
Since 2018 -the new building is already in the execution phase- and until 2022, there will be a significant investment to expand the facilities, with the construction of a new 7,000 m² building, which will adjoin the current building, adding to the current 20,000 m² and to also acquire new and new technologies. This expansion has come about due to the large growth that the group has experienced over the last decade and is now addressing the need to increase the production capacity of the medical and industrial division. As Albert Giralt has said “we had to take this step to ensure the growth in the medium and long term”, given that “our situation was already unfeasible if we wanted to continue growing”.
The new building, which will be located against the façade of the group’s current central offices, will house a good part of the medical division’s activity and will comprise four floors: a lower ground, a ground, a first and a second floor. The works must be able to allow AVINENT to expand its production capacity of the lathes and CNC milling machines, expand the areas for clean rooms and technical cleaning equipment, provide new areas for smart storage, create new special areas for 3D printing in metal (both titanium and cobalt chromium) as well as polymers, new laboratories for new 3D printing technology, such as polyjet, a new bioprinting laboratory, a new layout for Information and Communication Technologies and Systems, new areas for innovation, such as the research and development laboratory, new areas for specialist training, new multipurpose areas for events, presentations and promotional activities Furthermore, the construction of the building, designed by the architect Manuel Guerrero, will allow the expansion of the production area of the Vilardell Purtí Industrial Division and the remodelling of the current with the highest quality standards.
What will the new building be like?
The company’s new building is a reflection of the ambition, modernity and technological spirit of the firm.
Starting at the bottom, the lower ground floor will contain parking spaces, a warehouse, archives and the AVINENT Experience Space. The ground floor, in addition to being the entrance to AVINENT Science & Technology, will also be an area inspired by industry 4.0, which to a large extent will include all the cutting edge and leading technology of the dental implantology market, such as 3D printing, bioprinting and titanium or cobalt chromium sintering, to name just a few. The ground floor will also provide access to the AVINENT Experience Space, which will be an immersive and multimedia display so that clients can discover from within the essence of the firm and its international projection. Special importance will be given to research, innovation and training on the first floor, with the R&D Lab, where new products and services in the medical field will continue to be created. And finally, the second floor will be given over to specialised training and the Board of Directors.
